Nearly 900 women throughout the Diocese of St. Augustine are quietly praying each week for the spiritual strength and sanctity of priests through the Seven Sisters Apostolate, an international Catholic prayer apostolate.

The first local apostolate was established at San Juan del Rio Parish in St. Johns in 2021. Since then, the apostolate has grown to 128 groups praying for our priests with Bishop Erik Pohlmeier’s permission to establish apostolates within the diocese. The groups pray for Bishop Pohlmeier, priests in active ministry, retired priests and priests who have died through the Pro Pace Apostolate.

Each apostolate consists of seven women who each commit to offering one Holy Hour of prayer every week for a specific priest, ensuring he is supported by prayer every day of the week. Apostolates are formed with the permission of the individual pastor, and members renew their commitment annually.

“It is a privilege to pray for our priests,” said Jeanette Ghioto, Seven Sisters Apostolate local coordinator. “It is a blessing for the priest and the intercessor.”
