The Catholic Foundation of the Diocese of St. Augustine has established the St. Kateri Creation Care Endowment Fund to support ecological stewardship and sustainability efforts across the diocese. Approved by the foundation’s board of directors, the fund will provide annual grants to initiatives that reflect the teachings of Pope Francis’ 2015 encyclical, Laudato Si’, which calls Catholics to care for our common home.

The endowment was made possible through a generous gift from the Sisters of St. Joseph of St. Augustine, whose ministry has long emphasized the connection between love of God, neighbor and creation. The fund is named for St. Kateri Tekakwitha, patron saint of ecology.

As a permanent endowment, gifts to the fund will be invested in accordance with Catholic values, with earnings providing ongoing support for programs that promote care for creation, communities and future generations throughout the Diocese of St. Augustine.
