Bishop Kenny High School religion teacher Jacob Daul has been named Teacher of the Year by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7909 in Jacksonville.

What makes the recognition especially notable is that this is Daul’s first year teaching.

Daul teaches ninth- and 10th-grade religion at Bishop Kenny, where he previously worked for a year as a maintenance technician beginning in the summer of 2024. His path to the classroom also includes time spent in priestly formation as a seminarian for the Diocese of St. Augustine.

He says that experience has shaped how he approaches teaching the faith.

“I have found a fulfilling way to incorporate my education and experience as a seminarian into the curriculum of the classroom,” Daul said.

By sharing both his academic background and his personal faith journey, Daul seeks to help students better understand and live the teachings of the Church.
