Ten Commissioned for Lay Ministry

Bishop Erik Pohlmeier commissioned 10 new lay ministers for service in the Diocese of St. Augustine during a Mass on June 14 at St. Benedict the Moor Catholic Church in St. Augustine.
During the ceremony, Bishop Pohlmeier blessed the ministry pins each graduate will wear in service to the Church.
The new lay ministers and their parishes are Lawsikia Hodges, St. Catherine of Siena, Orange Park; Amanda Beltz, San José, Jacksonville; Ashleigh Bradley, St. Joseph, Jacksonville; Margaret Lewis, St. Patrick, Gainesville; Laurel McDonald, St. Catherine of Siena, Orange Park; Lacey Skinner, Cathedral Basilica of St. Augustine; John Gilmore, St. John the Baptist, Atlantic Beach; Alex Flott and Joanne Jones, both of Resurrection, Jacksonville; and Melissa Merritt, St. Matthew, Jacksonville.
The graduates completed the Diocese of St. Augustine’s three-year Ministry Formation Program, which prepares lay leaders for ministry in parishes and diocesan organizations.
